	Bireshwar Gautam, ..fondly referred to as "Biru" is probably one of the rare artist who has dual talents, being a excellent Kathak dancer and also a Thumri singer. Trained in kathak under the guidance of Guru Bandana Sen, Padmashri Late Pt. Gopi Krishna and Padmashri Damayanti Joshi. He is trained in vocal under the guidance of his father late Sailen Pal, khayal gayaki with Pt. Vasantrao Kulkarni and thumri under the eminent Smt.Shobha Gurtu. He has performed in many prestigious dance festivals like Ellora, Elephanta, Pune festival, Puri beach festival, Brindavan festival, Saratchandrika festival and many others throughout the country. He also has a audio cassette named "Thum-Khayal" to his credit. He heads the department of Kathak at the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Vashi,New Bombay and at the "Sur Jhankar" academy at the ISKON-Juhu. He is also the founder Director of Kathak Darpan- An Academy of Performing Arts. He is a A grade artist at the AIR, DD and NCPA. He has choreographed many innovative pieces which reflects both technical expertise and creativity.His production "Kathak aur Thumri ke Rang" has been the most popular. His other creations are "Cosmos", "Shakti" and "Raag Milan".
