I reached the place at 6:30 am.There were 100 odd people already in the line.
Remember, there are only 4 centres to issue Visas in India.So all the
crowd from Maharashara and Gujarat come here.And the GUJU crowd (no offence meant),
my GOD........
TIP : No point reaching there at 5 am.Be there at 7am.Coz its not first
come first serve (FCFS) , its RANDOMIZED.
By 8oclock they were letting people inside.Now you cannot carry any
electronic gadgets with you , not even an umbrella.So go light there,just
a bag with the required files.NO EXTRA FRILLS.
On entry inside, you will be made to pass through a metal detector system and
the security will FRISK YOU.They will ask you to remove your watch, wallet and
coins in pockets if any.Once inside , you can relax and sit inside.
The Hall inside is sprawling.There are 12 counters inside for various purposes which i'll explain soon. There must be atleast 300 chairs inside.You will be asked to be seated.At this point keep the following things ready:
After some time,you will be asked to submit the above 3 items, at counters no. 3 or 4.
You will be given a pink slip with your TOKEN number printed on it.Keep this safely.You will then be asked to sit again where you will wait your turn to submit the demand draft (DD) of Rs 1935. at counters 1 or 2
When you submit your DD , you will get some receipts.Keep them too.
Now you will be asked to sit , till your turn for the interview comes. TIP : You can chill out at the food stall behind the chairs.The stall has tea(Rs10), coffee(Rs15),cold-drinks(Rs15),cheese (Rs20)and vegetable sandwiches(Rs15) and also chicken rolls.(Rs30)THE REAL THING
Counter 5 : Counter for getting visa without interview.
How do i get there?
BY LUCK or if you have AID OR if your univ is good.
Well you can try barging in ... only thing...... security will throw you out.
Counter 6 : COOL Counter.A typical American who looks like Tom Cruise ,Andrew Kokinos and Chris O'donnell generally at this counter
Counter 8: KARLA !!!! JESUS BE WITH YOU
TIP : BE COOL IF YOUR TURN COMES AT THIS COUNTER.IM WITH YOU.AND I GOT IT
FROM THERE Counters 7 , 9 ,10 , 11 , 12 are for immigrants.

When your name is announced,go to the counter(BARI) with all your files.
Take a deep breath (serious) and be confident and maybe say a short little prayer.
Now,ill tell you what i was asked...
Me : Good Afternoon Mam
Karla Ok,Tell me who will finance your education in the USA?
Me: My Dad ..., My Elder Brother...
Karla:What does your dad do? and Your brother?
Me*.*
Karla:GRE?
Me Pardon

Me Pardon...Madam , yaah i took the GRE,score 2010.
Karla: How many univs you applied?
Me: 13 univs applied
Karla:How many admits
Me:7 admits
Karla: What are your plans after education:
MeWell after my Masters education i would return to Bombay.I would take up
a job in the IT industry.After acquring quality education, I would be in a position
to take advantage of the nascent Inidan IT industry .
Karla:OK , go pay your fees
Me :Ok Mam,Thank you
Then i went to counter 1 /2 top pay Rs 4300($100), the visa fee.
The feeling had yet to sink in.it was 12:40
You can come back to collect the visa at 4pm.There is a huge line for this
too.You will get your I 20 back too in an envelope stappled to the passport.
NOTE: My friend tells me that you are not supposed to open the envelope.
THATS IT GUYS.It was tiring typing this page just like the rest of the site,
but it was worth it.I sincerely hope that this helps you guys.
