AMUR VILLAGE, situated in Tanjore District of Tamil Nadu, India is a great village with several key features. First of all, it's a village very close to Tiruvarur town, well known as the birth place of the Trinity of Indian Classical Carnatic music. Secondly, it's a rich field for paddy cultivation and thirdly it's an oil exploration field. One could feel the pervading fragrance of the neem trees, the Shiva temple on one side (built 30 or so yrs back by our father), together with the LakshmiNarayan sanctum at the banks of the Lilly Pond on the other side is a scintillating welcome to a visitor who would fall in love with the charm & quintessence of Amur village. AMUR VILLAGE is situated between Tiruvarur Taluq Head Quarters and Nagapattinam, a port and district Head Quarters. Local town bus goes to the village thrice every day from Tiruvarur. It is serviced by another 8-10 trips by the buses plying on the Tiruvarur to Nagore route via Solanganallur which is less than a mile from Amur village. Kivalur, Virkudi, Nagore, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam are the railway stations. Many industries like MRL, ONGC etc are already operating around the village and many more are being set up. From Chennai, one can reach Tiruvarur by overnight train journey, and from Tiruvarur, Amur is just 45 minutes drive away.
