The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit

Though there is so much confusion about the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, Scriptures are very clear about the Holy Spirit. Let us see in brief the basic truths about the Holy Spirit. For more detailed study, please visit "Green Pastures" link.

The Person & Deity of the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is the Third Person in the Triune Godhead. Truly God and co-equal with the Father and the Son. Matt. 28:19; Ac. 5:3,4; 2Cor. 13:14.
Masculine pronouns are used for the Holy Spirit in the John's gospel. 'He','Him'
Jn.14:16,17; 15:26; 16:7-8,13-15.
*Only Believers can recieve the Holy Spirit: Jn.14:16-17; 7:39.
* By Faith: Gal. 3:2; Eph.1:13,14.

The Works of the Holy Spirit: In a believer's life:
* Permanently indwells: Rom. 8:9; 1Cor.6:19.
* Seals us to guarantee our ultimate salvation: 2Cor.1:21,22; Eph.4:30.
* Fills for service: Ac.6:3, 13:9-12; Eph.5:18-21.
* Teaches: Jn.14:26; 1Cor.2:13.
* Produces Christ-like Character: (fruit) Gal. 5:22,23.
* Equips with gifts for service in the Church: 1Cor.12:1-3.
* Guides into His truth: John 16:13;Rom.8:14.
* Changes us into His likeness: 2Cor.3:18. and many more.

In an unbeliever:
* Brings conviction of sin: Jn. 16:8,9.
* Gives new birth: Jn. 3:5; Tit.3:5.

Came upon early disciples to empower them for witnessing: Ac.1:8, 4:31.
United them into One Body: Eph. 2:22, 4:3,4.
Baptized them into One Body: 1 cor. 12:13.

"For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:2.
