What is Salvation?
It is the freedom from sin and its consequences. It is the deliverance
from sin and its consequences. It is the gift of God: Rom.
6: 14, 23; Titus 3: 4-6.
(Sin is any
thought, word or deed that either violates or falls short of complete
conformity to God's holy laws. Rom.3:23; 1Jn.3:4).
Salvation is deliverance from:
* Sin: Matt.1:21, 1Jn.3:5.
* Uncleanness: Ezek.36:29.
* The Devil: Col.2:15; Heb.2:14,15.
* Wrath of God: Rom.5:9; 1Thess.1:10.
* This present evil world: Gal.1:4.
* Enemies: Luke 1:71,74.
* Eternal death: Jn.3:16,17.
Salvation is Three-fold:
* Past: we have been saved from the penalty of sin: Rom.
6: 18,8:1, John 5:24.
* Present: we are being saved from the power of sin: Phil.2:12,
1Pe.1:5.
* Future: we will be saved from the presence of sin:
2Thess.1:11; Gal.1:4.
How are we saved?
* By God's grace and through faith in the Lord Jesus: Ephesians 2:8-10.
* By repenting of sins: Acts 2:38, 26:20; Proverbs 28:13.
* By believing in heart on the Lord Jesus Christ: Rom.10:9-11; Acts 16:30-31.
* Confessing with the mouth Jesus is Lord: Rom. 10:9-11; 1Cor. 12:3.
* NOT by works: Rom.11:6; Eph.2:9; 2Tim.1:9;
Titus 3:5.
Why man needs salvation? Because:
* Man is a sinner: Rom.3:23, 5:12.
* Man is lost: Luke 15:4,32;19:10.
* Man is fallen: Luke 15:8; Rom. 3:23.
* Man is dead: Eph. 2:1; Luke 15: 32.
* Man is under condemnation: Jn.3:36,5:24;Rom.1:18,5:1.
* Man is perishing: Jn.3:16.
* Man is separated from God: Isa. 59:2; Eph.2:13.
But God loves man and does not want him to perish: Jn.3:16.
When to be saved? the day & time:
* Today is the day of salvation: Heb.3:7,13,15.
* Now: Isa. 49:8; 2Cor.6:2.
How do we know we are saved? The Assurance of
Salvation:
Based on Four factors:
1. The Work of God the Son, Lord Jesus Christ: Salvation by His sacrifce:
Heb. 9:12,10:12; 1Jn.1:9.
2. The Word of God the Father YHWH: His Promises: Jn.3:16,36; 1Jn.5:9-13.
3. The Witness of God the Holy Spirit:our Relationship: Rom.5:5, 8:15-16.
4. The Walk of the Believer in Christ: our Experience: Matt.7:16; Gal.5:22;
Eph.5:1; 1Jn.3:8-10.
"Whom (Jesus Christ) having
not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing,
ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of
your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets
have enquired and searched diligently,..."
