The Times Fund For Kargil Martyrs - Zara yaad karo kurbani

Once again India's armed forces are engaged in a valiant struggle to rebuff aggression. Their courage is indomitable. They fight against the heaviest of odds, they get wounded and some make the supreme sacrifice so that India's borders remain secure and her honour intact. The debt of gratitude the nation ows them cannot be calculated. There are however, modest ways to repay some of it. One is to demonstrate our solidarity with the families which have been bereaved. Time and again in the past, The Times Group has taken the initiative to mobilise support for the victims of wars and natural catastrophes. Now, it has decided to set up a fund for the Kargil Heroes. Cheques/ Drafts should be addressed in the name of "THE TIMES OF INDIA RELIEF FUND", 7, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi - 110002. The funds will be disbursed to needy families which have lost their dear ones in fighting along the Line of Control as may be decided by the trustees. It's strange. Only if you listen, can our soldiers talk

It is lonely out there. Even lonelier when you can't be in touch with your family. However it is time to tell our soldiers that they are not alone. You are with them. As is The Indian Express and Iridium. 10 satellite phones are being provided at the battlefront and the Front-To-Family Fund will pay for airtime, besides buying more satellite phones for the Army. That's where you come in. Your cheque should favour "The Indian Express Citizens Relief Fund for Front-To-Family Fund" and can be sent to The Company Secretary, Indian Express Newspapers(Bombay) Ltd., Express Towers, 2nd Floor, Nariman Point, Mumbai-400021. So go ahead. Let's prove to our soldiers that our concern for them isn't all talk.
