![]() Vastu is more than a myth. Vastu is a traditional theory of architecture consisting of guidelines for building design. The traditional practitioners of Vastu were called Vastu Shastris whose area of knowledge extended from philosophy to astronomy. The theory of Vastu is permanent and not bound by any time barrier. Vastu guidelines are useful to individuals and the society. It takes care of the health and happiness of the individual, without compromising on the needs of the society and the overall environment. Thousands of years ago, it was believed that an invisible energy force from the Earth's center was responsible for the way certain locations thrived more than others and thus were more inhabitable. This powerful life force that exists within all things is the single most important factor influencing our lives for better or for worse. Do you get up in the morning feeling refreshed,
rested and ready to go? By erecting buildings and homes without consciousness or awareness of how the 'interiors' and 'exteriors' affects the energy balance (of the land), we inadvertently throw off the natural energy field of the land. This imbalance subsequently affects our body's internal energy fields. Everything around us is alive within an energy field. It is important to understand that a living environment intertwines with life in a significant way. Vastu Shastra finds its origin in the Stapatya Veda, a part of the Atharva Veda, one of the four main tenets of ancient Indian society. It is the equivalent of architecture plus a result oriented field to assure harmony with the universal rhythm of creation, resulting in health, wealth, prosperity, wisdom and much more to members of society. Legend has it that Lord Brahma passed on this knowledge to Lord Shiva, who in turn passed it on to Sage Vishwakarma and there onwards, it has been carried down to the generations. The Earth's magnetic field, the solar energy and
cosmic rays are the fundamentals of Vastu Shastra. In the days of ancient India, entire
cities were constructed to harness the principles of this science. This made sure that
Local Energy Fields of the city were well balanced. Thus, people had personal bio-energy
systems which were structured towards a greater level of inner harmony and order. |
