Pre Conference Discussion, end Feb 2001
A task force has been constituted by Department of Science and Technology (DST) to deliberate upon the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure (NGDI).
The task force is a result of a series of discussion with various Ministries of Government of India, Non Governmental Organisations and Private Sector. The task force will look after the various aspects of NGDI such as its structure, content, policy, legal and commercial dimensions. It is envisaged that the Task Force will come out with background paper and future policy directions to be put for the discussion during the Workshop to be held on 5-6 February 2001. It is expected that the findings of the task force will lead to an Act that will facilitate uniform standards with regard to data generation and distribution.
