The poor are great people
The poor do not need our sympathy and our pity.
The poor need our love and compassion.
They give us much more than we give them.
During a terrible time when millions of refugees fled to India,
we asked for help and many volunteers came and spent some months with us,
just loving, serving, giving tender love and care to our people.
On their departure, they said they had received much more than they had given.
In Calcutta, some time ago, we went out at night and picked up four or five people from
the street and took them to our Home for the Dying. One of them was in a very bad
condition and I wanted to take care of her myself. I did for her all that my love could
do. When I put her into bed, she took hold of my hand and there was such a wonderful smile
on her face. She said one word: "Thank you" and she died. She gave me much more
than I had given her. She gave me her grateful heart and I thought: what would I have done
in her place? My answer was: I would have tried to draw some attention to myself, I would
have said: I am hungry or I am cold or I am dying. But she, she was so great, she was so
beautiful in her giving. The poor are great people.
If you pray with words, let them be filled with love and come from the deepest of your heart. Pray with great respect and trust. Fold your hands, close your eyes en lift up your heart to the Lord. Let your prayer be a pure sacrifice to God. Do not pray loud and not too quiet. Pray simply. Let your heart speak. Praise the Lord with all your soul. Words will come like that from the bottom of your heart and you will find joy in prayer. Stop once in a while by a word and think it over, let it sink to the bottom of your heart. Keep them during the rest of the day: they will bring you peace.
Till the end of my days Jesus is for me:
my God
my beloved
my life
my only love
my All in all
my highest Good
Jesus I love you with all my heart
Jesus I love you with all my soul
I gave Him everything,
even my sins and He took me in His tender love for His bride.
From now on to the end of my days
I am the bride of my crucified bridegroom.
Amen.
ABOUT LOVE...
Don't think that love, to be true, has to be extraordinary. What is
necessary is to continue to love. How does a lamp burn, if it is not by the continuous
feeding of little drops of oil? When there is no oil, there is no light and the bridegroom
will say: "I do not know you". Dear friends, what are our drops of oil in our
lamps? They are the small things from every day life: the joy, the generosity, the little
good things, the humility and the patience. A simple thought for someone else. Our way to
be silent, to listen, to forgive, to speak and to act. That are the real drops of oil that
make our lamps burn vividly our whole life. Don't look for Jesus far away, He is not
there. He is in you, take care of your lamp and you will see Him."

"Who do you say I am" (Matthew 16:15)
You are God.
You are God from God.
You are begotten, not made.
You are One in Substance with the Father.
You are the Son of the Living God.
You are the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity.

You are the Beloved Son in Whom the Father is well pleased.
You are the Son of Mary, conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary.
You were born in Bethlehem.
You were wrapped in swaddling clothes by Mary and put in the manger full of straw.
You were kept warm by the breath of the donkey who carried your Mother with you in her
womb.

You are an ordinary man without much learning, as judged by the learned people of Israel.
