1) ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATION

ISO 9001: 2000 certification for the entire Workshop including Training School and Personnel Branch has been obtained with effect from 19th November, 2004. It is noteworthy that this feat has been achieved without engaging any external consultant.

2) POLLUTION CONTROL AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY

 3) POLLUTION CONTROL AND INDUSTRIAL SAFETY

4)RESTORATION OF VINTAGE FIRE ENGINE

A Morris Belsize Fire Engine of 1914 model belonging to the erstwhile Nizam State Railway was thoroughly reconditioned and restored by the Workshop. The engine went on to win the Patton Trophy for best restored car and Surex trophy for best turnout of car, driver and passengers in period costume at The Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally at Kolkata on the 16th of Jan 2005. This event got front page mention in several leading Dailies.
This engine has further won the First prize at The Statesman Vintage Car Rally at New Delhi on 20th of Feb. 2005.

Special attention is being given to training of Workshop staff. Special modules for Artisan and Supervisors have been devised and training is being conducted regularly.  

6) NEW ACTIVITIES:

The Workshop has taken up new activities as per the demand of its customers. Some such important activities are listed below:-

(i) POH of OHE Tower Car –The first tower car was turned out during December, 2004.

ii)  POH of DMU, SPART and SPARME – The first SPART(self propelled accident relief train) is ready for despatch.

  iii) POH of a new type of BHEL make loco of Haldia Port Trust has been done during November, 2004.

iv) Manufacture of bridge channel sleepers and other Permanent Way items viz. roller, rail fixing plate, grooved pad plate, etc.

7) RESTORATION OF ACCIDENT DAMAGED ROLLING STOCK

a) Badly accident damaged OHE tower car “Virat Chakra” of SEC Rly. has been structurally repaired during November, 2004.

b) Under-frames of an accident damaged WDG2 diesel loco and a WAG5A electric loco of SEC Rly. have been repaired and re-cambered during October  and December, 2004 respectively.

c) A bomb blast diesel loco of NF Rly., has been repaired and re-commissioned during December, 2004.

1) Computerised MIS

Setting up of Computerised Workshop Information System (WISE) for the entire Workshop .

2) Electronic Gate Attendance System

Pilot implementation is in final stage.

3) ISO 14000 and 18000 Certification

Internal Auditor Training is completed.
