WHY   DO   YOU   NEED TO TREAT KIDNEY STONES?

Kidney stones have to be treated even though they may not be causing any symptoms.
Kidney stone pain is mainly episodic.  The next episode of pain may occur an hour later or a week later as a month later or a year later. It is difficult to say when the next episode may occur. The patients may remain symptom free in the intervening period and may get complacent about their stone problem and most of the time get totally negligent and ignore / forget the presence of the stone. This is human nature.

It should be remembered that stones are not a normal presence in the body.  Their prolonged presence can cause damage to the kidney and urinary system:

I always tell my patients, “ you are asymptomatic now. But you definitely cannot forget the pain and agony you suffered during the colic episode. You can never tell when the pain will reoccur. Imagine if the pain were to reoccur during important job assignment or a business meeting. Worse still should the pain occur on during a long trip. Can you imagine the helplessness if the pain occurs just as the plane has become airborne, or the super fast train has left the station and the next halt is several hours later…..
