Nagpur is the second
capital of Maharastra, a leading state of India. It is just about in the
center of the country and well connected by rail, road and air to all the
four major metropolitan cities. The name Nagpur appeared for the first
time in the 10th century AD. The city was founded by the Gond King Bakth
Buland Shah of Deogarh in the early 18th century. Later the city was ruled
by the Bhoslas. Nagpur was incorporated in the British territory in the
year 1853. The city was the capital of erstwhile state of Central
Provinces and later Madhya Pradesh. Nagpur was incorporated in Maharastra
in the year 1960.
Nagpur city is situated at an altitude of 900 - 1000
ft above sea level and has an area of 220 sq.kms , receiving an annual
rainfall of 1,242 mm. Except for the summer months from March to June,
which are hot, the weather all round is OK. Winters last from November to
January and is a good time for visitors.
Lions
Club Nagpur Central was inaugurated on Nov. 21st, 1982 sponsored by Lions
Club Nagpur. The Extension Chairman is Lion Ramkaran Jindal. The club
received it's charter on March 8th, 1983. The charter President was Lion
Dr.V K Khare. Lions Club Nagpur Central occupies the place of pride in the
city of Nagpur. It is in the forefront of service activities. It has had
glorious past and a galloping present. Every year something new is added.

Our club is
Internationally twinned with Woolwich and Greenwich Lions Club, Kent,UK
and shortly we plan to twin with Karachi Metro Lions Club - Pakistan and
Lions Club Golden Valley Keperra - Brisbane,
Australia.
