Amit Kumar remembers....

Amit Kumar, his eldest son, remembers" Kishore Kumar, the man, the father, the legend. What can I say except that he was a wonderful guy -- a great father? I think it's the fortunate who get these kind of fathers. He was known to play practical jokes on people very often. He used to love telling jokes too. But with the family he used to be serious. He loved us and the rest of the family. He never planned things. He would just get up and say, 'let's go out' and we would pile up in the car and go without thinking twice. He loved the mountains, nature. People think that Kishore Kumar only means jokes, comedy. But he had a very serious side to him too."
Ashok Kumar remembers....

Ashok Kumar, elder brother of Kishore Kumar, relates a very amusing anecdote about his younger brother's fondness for music.Ashok Kumar had sung on screen 'Koi Humdum Na Raha' earlier and little Kishore fell in love with the song and was determined to sing it.
The complex beat and the rather poor(according to Ashok Kumar)voice obviously did not help. Then Kishore hurt himself and cried for an entire month! His voice improved and much later he went on to sing the hauntingly beautiful 'Koi Humdum Na Raha'in Jhumroo.

Lata Mangeshkar remembers....

Lata Mangeshkar's fond and fitting tribute best describes this bundle of contradictions......"He was a Sampoorna Kalakaar(the complete artiste). He knew everything.I call him India's Danny Kaye. Producer,director,actor,singer,musician.......".
R.D.Burman remembers....

R.D.Burman says,"He'd hear Pandit Bhimsen Joshi sing and at once catch the tune. Then hum it a couple of times and then by evening he'd be doing a perfect replay. The flexibility of his voice gave it immense range and expression."
Salil Choudhary remembers....

Salil Chowdhury remembers how during the recording of 'Aake Seedhi Lagi' for Half Ticket,Lata Mangeshkar was unable to come for the recording. The ever-resourceful Kishore suggested that he would do both the male and female voices.Salil Chowdhury very nearly brushed it off as a prank, but Kishore was serious. And we have the humorous and absolutely astonishing song sung by this great genius.
