I am Dr. Sanjaya Mishra (b.1969) born and brought up in Orissa and Graduated in 1988 from Sambalpur University. I completed my Master and M.Phil. degree in Library and Information Science in 1991 and 1992 respectively. In 1993 I joined the Indira Gandhi National Open University as Assistant Regional Director in its Regional Centre at Patna. Since then I am acticvely involved in Distance Education. I joined as a Lecturer in Distance Education at Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education, a constituent body of IGNOU in 1996.

At present I am Programme Officer at Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia, New Delhi, a constituent body of Commonwealth of Learning, Vancouver. I have also completed Master of Arts in Distance Education from IGNOU and Post Graduate Diploma in Television Production from University of Hyderabad. I have written books for Llibrary and Information Professionals, and there are a number of research papers to my credit. I received Ph.D. in March 1999 from University of Delhi in Library and Information Science.
I received the Prof. S. Dasgupta Memorial Gold Medal in 1991 for outstanding performance in Master degree examination. I also received the Best Paper award of International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, The Hague in 1992.
I am also a member of some learned societies. They are: Indian Library Association, Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centre, Indian Distance Education Association, International Society for Knowledge Organisation, International Society for Improvement of Training Quality, and International Society for Knowledge Organisation. I have been Book Review Editor of Indian Journal of Open Learning, published by IGNOU from 1997-2000.

My areas of specialisation includes: Information Technology for Distance Education, Internet, Online Education and Training, Web-based Learning, Support Services to Learners including Library and Information Services, Information technology in Library and Information Services.
