	INDIA’S IMPROVED SHOW AT THE BANGKOK ASIAN GAMES India is showing signs of moving in the right direction as they snatched four gold medals in the1998 games. This is more evident as, after a long time we have seen a spurt in winnings in the mother of all sports, athletics. We, as a nation, have always been impatient and readily complain for the lack of success in International sport while ignoring the long term prospects of the sportsmen, thus putting that much extra pressure on them. Thus combined with this reason and the others like lack of adequate facilities, exposure, sponsors etc. has put the sportsman out of the limelight in Olympic discipline. Rarely have our stars been able to rise above mediocrity and the pressure to achieve success. In this light we should heartily congratulate our brave sportsmen and women.
