They are heroic,Kingly and divine type.Their faces are Painted green and they have large black markings around the eyes and eyebrows.The sacred markof Vishnu on the foreheads and vermilion around the mouth.On the head they were golden crown called kirita.eg:Vishnu,Sree Krishna,Sree Rama etc |

| These characters are arrogant and evil.Their make up is usually green and have the same chutti and Kiritas as Pachha.This characters have a red mark like a upturned moustach in the cheek.Then they have white knobs on the tip of the noses and on the forehead to show that they are evil. |  |

Kari
These females characters are the demonesses.Their faces are jet black with dotted red and white markings on them.They also have false breasta and same bucket shaped head dresses and black costumes as the black beard characters |

The costume is very simple and face is painted a warm yellow tint.The female characters are the heroines,servants etc, Male characters are messengers,sages,brahmins etc. sages wear conical head dresses and most of the other wear turbans.Brahmins have no make up and wear clothes on the heads In addition to these are 18 special characters.This are Garuda(eagle mount of Vishnu),Hamsa(mount of Saraswathy),Narasimha(Man-lion, a manifestation of vishnu) etc. |
