Like every other year, South Point students bagged prominent ranks at the HS examinations. What was more, this time they bagged 5 out of the top 20 ranks, making South Point the school with the single largest number of rankers. Again, like every year, for every student who got a place in the limelight, there was one who didn't. Expectations often went in vain, giving one of the most topsy-turvy results ever. Kolkata,10 February:Students of Class XII,South Point High School (HS 2001 batch) bagged the top honours at the Mathematical Competence Test organised by the Association for the Improvement of Mathematics Teaching (AIMT).The prizes were distributed at AIMT’s 30th Annual Conference,held at Central Model School,Kolkata.Prizes were distributed by Prof Dwijesh Dutta Majumdar,Professor Emeritus,Indian Statistical Institute,Kolkata.The other eminent invitee was Prof Dilip Kumar Sinha,President,AIMT.South Point students bagged 10 out of the top 20 positions,in addition to the Bireshwar Roy Chaudhuri Memorial Award-2000 and the first prize (both bagged by Debamitro Chakravorti,XIIC,SPHS). Students from all over West Bengal participated in this examination,held on 6th August 2000 and subsequent interview,held on 16th December 2000.
