INTRODUCTION

Acupressure is a Japanese form of physical therapy and therapeutic massage, based on traditional Chinese medicine. It combines massage, gentle physical manipulation, and pressure along channels or rivers of energy called meridians. Each meridian mirrors a particular organ or organ function. When the meridians are balanced, the tissues, nerves, muscles, and bones are responding in kind. Acupressure is a body therapy which dates back to the third century in China. The Chinese located 361 key energetic acu-points along the meridians. Each point addresses particular functions. Acupressure and Acupuncture both use these points to balance the body's energy -- with Acupressure employing fine pressure or magnets.
