Devotion in Ganesh cult is mainly based
on:
- Worship of image of Lord Ganesh
- Understanding of upanishad named, Ganapati Atharvashirsha
.
|
Scientific application of these
techniques
my forthcoming English book titled "Ganesh Vidnyan- Science and Technology.
"
It is also interesting to compare Mudgal Purana with works of
Shakespeare, which also depict various facets of human mind
my new forthcoming English book titled "Shakespeare on the crossroad of
Indian civilisation." |

1) The Worship
Stories on Moral values relating Ganesh worship are found in Mudgal
and Ganesh Puranas. These stories describe dangers arising out of psychological states of
mind and suggest remedies by changing ways of life.
Image of Ganesh is a combination of an elephant's head with long trunk
and one single tooth and a human body. This form seems unusual for a God. This image is
actually a visual representation of biophysical map of human nervous system.
Visualize the brain and spinal cord along with various sensitive plexus
on it. Does it not look familiar? Of course, it looks like Lord Ganesh. This map is
intended to facilitate activation of nervous plexus and also to stimulate dormant power in
human body. The ancient scriptures describe harnessing of mental power by focussing mind
on such images.

2) The Technology
Atharvashirsha is a superhuman composition. Application of Yogic
and Tantric tecniques are skillfully in built in the text of Atharvashirsha itself.
- Yoga tries to restructure and refine our thinking process to ensure successful and
enlightened life.
- Tantra uses phonetics to stimulate dormant power of inner mind by stimulating various
plexus along the nervous system.
The stimulation and activation of nervous centers brings enlightenment
and pleasure. Mediation on these lines can give our soul (Atma) access to
super-consciousness (Paramatma). Our mind gets tuned to the basic entities of the creation
namely:
- Space ( Akasha) and Energy (Prana) in Yoga
- Absolute Singularity (Shiva) and Universal Energy (Shakti) in Tantra

3) The Omkar Naad, the divine sound
While Ganesh is the visual representation of the divine mental power, Omkar is its
phonetic form.
Mystic symbol Om represents 4 states of existence viz. A, U, M and a
point.
A -> stands for the physical outer world,
U -> stands for the subtle inner self, a interpretation of
outer world in our mind
M -> stands for mass of mere consciousness, sense of
existence, the edge between the known & unknown
the point -> represents infinity, the mysterious universe
beyond human knowledge

4) Omkar & Atharvashirsha
The theory of Omkar from Mandukya Upanishada manifests in the text
of Atharva shirsha. Recitation of Atharvashirsha with proper understanding of this
application educates and refines our mind.
Scientific application of all above techniques and their use in our daily
activities secures for us accomplished life in every respect. I have tried to explain this
in my forthcoming English book, titled Ganesh Vidnyan- Science and Technology.
Stories in Mudgal Purana are metaphorical. They describe nuances of
human mind and suggest ways to handle them. It is also interesting to compare Mudgal
Purana with works of Shakespeare, which also depict various facets of human mind. I have
attempted this in my new forthcoming English book, titled Shakespeare on the crossroad
of Indian civilisation.
